    Faculty Visual Arts Department Head

    Archie Veale ’85

    Archie Veale has served the Baltimore School for the Arts as a drawing and TWIGS instructor for 20 years. He became the head of the Visual Arts Department in 2016. A Baltimore native, Archie is a graduate of BSA (’85) and the Maryland Institute College of Art (’91). Committed to Baltimore’s youth, Archie has worked with several arts institutions and programs, including MICA, Bright Starts (Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Art and Culture), School 33 Art Center, Youth Works, Access Art, and BOPA. He has been recognized nationally for his teaching, received both individual and collaborative arts grants and served as a program adviser for community arts groups on the east and west coasts.

    Archie remains an active illustrator, graphic artist, and muralist, creating work for clients such as Laureate, Scholastic, Johns Hopkins, and the MLB Negro League Hall of Fame
