Dr. Chris Ford takes the helm of BSA after his unanimous appointment by the school's Board of Overseers and the Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners in April.  Dr. Ford has been at BSA since 1981, beginning as a saxophone instructor, then instrumental music coordinator and later rising to Music Department Head in 1990.

In addition, he helped to build and refine the TWIGS after-school and weekend music program for 2nd to 8th grade students.  Dr. Ford’s credentials are wide-ranging and impressive:  Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas; Master of Music from Bowling Green State University; Premier Prix, Medaille d’Or from the Conservatoire National de Bordeaux; Fulbright-Hays Fellowship to France; and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland.

Dr. Ford has said of his new position, “The school is a dream job.  This is what the arts are all about.”  Please join us in supporting him in his new position as the year gets underway!
