    Historical Scenes | Sophomores

Baltimore School for the Arts in partnership with the Maryland Center for History and Culture presents “Language of Liberty”, scenes of life during the American Revolution.

Using primary source research from MCHC, BSA Theater students bring to life the stories the history books leave out.

📍LOCATION: Maryland Center for History and Culture

Inspired by stories in the “Unfinished Revolution” exhibit at MCHC, as well as sources in the MCHC library, Sophomore acting and stage design students explore themes of freedom and patriotism during the formative years of our nation. In a collection four 12 minute scenes, audiences experience the struggles of the Black workers and white women who weren’t included in the Declaration’s intention. How did those words of freedom sound to them? And what steps did they take to actualize the larger meaning of “all men are created equal?”

Audiences are invited to participate in a talk back with the performers and designers about their process and the program at the Baltimore School for the Arts.

Tickets available on April 16. $10
