A Letter from Baltimore City Public Schools:
Dear Baltimore School for the Arts #415 Students, Families, and Community,
Thank you for your continued professionalism, patience, and partnership as we navigate the recovery process following the recent flooding at Baltimore School for the Arts. We understand that this has been a challenging and disruptive time, and we deeply appreciate your flexibility and commitment to our students.
During demolition and repair work related to the flooding, Facilities teams removed sections of walls and wall bases in impacted basement areas in order to properly dry materials and prevent further damage. During this process, our teams identified microbial growth. Upon identification, environmental air quality testing was conducted in the affected areas. These tests revealed the presence of mold. Remediation efforts are actively underway. Out of an abundance of caution, additional comprehensive air quality testing is being conducted throughout the building.
Virtual learning will continue through Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Remediation work will continue through the holiday weekend, and students and staff are expected to return to in-person learning on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, pending the results of the air quality test.
We invite you to attend the upcoming community meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 where we will share detailed updates, review remediation efforts, and answer your questions directly. We will share the time and location in an update on Friday.
We are committed to transparency and will continue to share updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your continued dedication to the Baltimore School for the Arts community.
Warm regards,
Dr. Lynette K. Washington
Chief Operating Officer
