A letter from Baltimore City Public Schools:
Dear Baltimore School for the Arts #415 Students, Parents, Staff, and Community,
Thank you for your continued patience and partnership as we work through the recovery process following last week’s flooding at Baltimore School for the Arts. We understand how disruptive this extended time away from the building has been, and we truly appreciate your flexibility and support. During repairs, microbial growth was identified in portions of the building. With the health and safety of our students and staff as our top priority, additional time is needed to complete a full remediation and ensure the building is safe for reentry.
Virtual learning will continue through Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
During this time, Facilities teams will complete a comprehensive remediation process and conduct air quality testing throughout the school. These steps are critical to ensure that every space meets health and safety standards before students and staff return to in-person learning. Once testing is complete, results will be shared with the school community and continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
We recognize that learning from home can present challenges, and we are grateful for the resilience of our students, families, and staff. Thank you for your understanding as we work to restore Baltimore School for the Arts for a safe and healthy return.
Warm regards,
Dr. Lynette Washington
Chief Operating Officer
