Pianist, composer, and improviser Mark Williams has long experience accompanying ballet and modern dance, notably in New York city, where he played for years at various venues including the Joffrey Ballet School, Steps, Broadway Dance Center, Ballet Academy East, and the David Howard School, and for diverse teachers and choreographers including Zvi Gottheiner, Bertram Ross, Mary Anthony, Marjorie Mussman, Francis Patrelli, Willie Berman, Peff Modelski, Mark Morris, and Agnes DeMille.
In Baltimore, he collaborated with choreographer Carol Bartlett, director of Peabody Dance, and Peabody Opera director Roger Brunyate to create an independent production, “Puss in Boots,” a comic opera/Christmas panto that ran for two seasons at Theatre Project. He has a masters degree in composition from the Indiana University School of Music, Bloomington (now the Jacobs School).
