Carlous Palmer ’82 is a classically trained artist with a background in clothing design and construction. He creates clothing from a variety of unconventional materials: rice, bamboo, and plastic, as well as other items such as wire, cephalopod dyes (squid ink), and other materials to make use of the environment in ways that do not negatively impact it. His work has been shown at the Smithsonian, the Maryland Art Place, the Baltimore Museum of Art, and other venues across the United States from New York to Hawaii. Mr Palmer is also an actor, with his design and styling work seen in a variety of films.
You can view his stunning collection of work from the Paris Fashion Week here. Shana Kroiz, another Baltimore School for the Arts alumnus and one of the country’s leading experimental enamelists and jewelry educators, designed the breathtaking jewelry for the show.
