Kelli Young has been a featured soloist and recitalist in the United States and Europe, performing in Nice, France Cologne Germany, and Graz Austria where she also attended the American Institute of Musical Studies. She has been on tour in mainland China with members of the Washington National Opera. She has collaborated with and sung for such greats as composer/conductor Marvin Hamlisch and Grammy Award-winning artist Bobby McFerrin at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore.
Young’s most recent credits include the role of Nat King Coles’ mother in the premier performance of There was a Boy at Morgan State University under the show’s creator, James Rich. She later directed Rich’s musical, Blink, which premiered in April 2017. She was also a featured artist in the premiere performance of String Theory at the Edinburg Festival Fringe 2017.
Young graduated high school from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC, and then earned her undergraduate degree in vocal performance from the Peabody Conservatory. She was later awarded the Syracuse University African-American Fellowship, which enabled her to pursue graduate studies.
